Senators Win Sixth Straight Game
The Senators beat the Maple Leafs 3-2 on Sunday night for their sixth straight victory.
Ottawa is now two games over .500 on the season.
The Senators are on their best run since March 22-April 1, 2010, when they also put together a six-game winning streak.
"We've got a good thing going right now and we want to keep it going," Chris Neil said.
"For the most part we did a good job of playing with the lead tonight and that's important. Once we got that early goal back that they got on the power play, our power play came up big and got two goals, and then Daugy came out and had a great shot. It's a nice way to get your first point."
Avalanche Earn First Home Win Of Season
After the final horn sounded and the Avalanche had won their first home game of the season, the players stood at center ice and raised their sticks to the crowd.
"It's a nod to them for coming out and paying their money," center Matt Duchene said. "Even though we're 1/3 at home we've been in every game and probably should have won two or three. We want to be a good home team."
Semyon Varlamov stopped 29 shots, Duchene scored an early third period goal and Colorado beat the Kings 3-2 Sunday night.
Blue Jackets Get Second Win Of Season
The Blue Jackets defeated the Ducks 3-1 on Sunday night for just their second win of the young NHL season.
Columbus was aggressive against Anaheim's stars all game, leading to four fights, including one with Ducks' captain Ryan Getzlaf. The effort resembled the Blue Jackets' first win, Tuesday against Detroit, which was also at home.
"When we play with a little bit of any edge, when we play like we're pissed off, when we play in the hard areas and go there first ... that's usually when better things happen for us," Blue Jackets coach Scott Arniel said.
Kessel Scores 10th Goal In Leafs Win Over Pens
Phil Kessel scored his league-leading 10th goal midway through the third period to lift the Maple Leafs to a 4-3 win over the Penguins on Saturday night, according to an ESPN.com report.
Pronger Injured In Flyers' Win
Chris Pronger, the Flyers captain, will miss two to three weeks and spend the next few days on bed rest with an injury, putting a scare in Philadelphia's 4-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night.
"He was hit on the side, and there's a lot of swelling," Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said. "The hope is that there's not a lot of blood buildup there where it will create issues."
Capitals Beat Wings To Stay Perfect
Mike Green had two goals and two assists, Mathieu Perreault added two goals, and the Capitals routed the Red Wings 7-1 on Saturday night in a matchup of the NHL's last remaining unbeaten teams, according to an ESPN.com report.
Red Wings Down Jackets To Remain Undefeated
Johan Franzen scored two of Detroit's three power-play goals and added an assist to help the Red Wings remain unbeaten with a 5-2 victory over the Blue Jackets on Friday night.
Detroit (5-0-0) and the Capitals (6-0-0) -- who play the Red Wings in Washington on Saturday night -- are the NHL's only two unbeaten teams. Columbus (0-6-1) is the league's only winless squad.
SJ Celebrates Thornton's 1,000th Game With Win
Michal Handzus and Ryane Clowe scored shootout goals and the Sharks celebrated Joe Thornton’s 1,000th NHL game with a 4-3 win over the Devils on Friday night.
Thornton had a goal and set up Joe Pavelski’s tying tally with 32.4 seconds left in regulation to help the Sharks snap a three-game losing streak
Ovechkin Scores Two As Caps Stay Unbeaten
The Capitals have roared to their best start in team history without much production from Alex Ovechkin. He buried that slump against a Flyers team he torments like few others.
Ovechkin scored two goals and the Capitals used a three-goal third period to remain perfect and beat the Flyers 5-2 on Thursday night, according to an ESPN.com report.
Kessel Leads Leafs Past Jets
Phil Kessel is playing exactly the way the Maple Leafs wanted when they acquired him from the Bruins in 2009.
Kessel had a goal and two assists, extending his NHL lead in goals and points, to help the Maple Leafs rally for a 4-3 shootout victory over the Jets on Wednesday night, according to an ESPN.com report.
